For volume shippers looking for the most economical ground delivery, Parcel Select is the best option available. It provides a low-cost option to bulk deliver packages using the Postal Service's standard ground delivery service. For your order to be considered a bulk package, USPS generally requires around 50 packages or more. But with EasyPost, there are no volume requirements to take advantage of Parcel Select.
If you are delivering more fragile items, Parcel Select may not be the best option for you. The parcels are shipped by ground and regularly handled, meaning they are more exposed to damage than other means of delivery and shipping.
As of January 27, 2013, Parcel Select was split into Parcel Select, for online purchasing, and Standard Post for purchasing at the Post Office. Parcel Select is significantly cheaper than Standard Post.
Parcel Select ships at the same speed as First Class mail. Price is determined by weight, dimensions, and distance. The maximum weight is 70 lbs. The maximum combined length and girth is 130". Nonpresort has no minimums. Destination Entry, NDC Presort, and ONDC Presort all have a 50 package minimum. If you are shipping packages that weigh less than a pound, you can take advantage of the Parcel Select Lightweight sub-service.
When you sign up with EasyPost, you are automatically set up with a USPS account and can immediately start shipping with Parcel Select without having to prove any volume. To get your packages delivered using Parcel Select, you can use the EasyPost shipment UI to create the label or make requests over the API. Then, just drop your packages off at the post office or a USPS drop off box.
Parcel Select offers delivery within 2-8 days for packages being delivered to the lower 48 states. If your package is being delivered to or from Alaska or Hawaii the delivery time may be delayed and take longer than the given times. When you use EasyPost, you'll be able to see estimated delivery dates as part of the rating process.
