Rate Retention Policy Change

by James Brown

Effective May 1, 2020, EasyPost will be changing our retention policy for un-purchased rates to only retain such rates for 28 days. This change will help us keep up with the significant increase in ecommerce traffic so far in 2020, and brings our retention policy for un-purchased rates in line with other ephemeral data like webhook events.

Note that this only applies to the un-purchased Rate Objects attached to Shipments; we will continue to retain purchased Rate objects for the periods documented in our retention policies (currently, no less than 3 years). If you attempt to purchase a Rate which has exceeded its retention period, you will receive an error; you should re-rate that Shipment or create a new Shipment.

Our analysis indicates that fewer than 0.03% of purchase requests will be impacted by this change. All of our data retention policies can always be found in the article How Long is Data Retained. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support team at support@easypost.com.
